Lithuania and the European Union — partnership in practice
About Northern Impact
Northern Impact is an association based in Lithuania. Our core work is sustainability and innovation — through European cooperation, education programmes, and initiatives that put responsible ideas into everyday use.
We work across youth, adult, and school education, and develop practical projects — from circular and ecological themes to digital tools for responsible hospitality and energy-aware work. Founded by professionals with experience in sustainable development and European collaboration, we partner in Lithuania and across Europe.
Mission and goals
We advance sustainability and innovation through projects, education, and European partnerships — so better approaches take root in communities and organisations.
We align our work with national ecological goals and support responsible innovation — including circular materials, textiles, and community practice rooted in local culture.
Our initiatives support climate-neutrality objectives by reducing waste, promoting renewable materials, and encouraging circular economies across education and project work.
Workshops, mentorship, and exchanges develop practical skills in circular practice, ecological design, and responsible innovation — for learners and professionals alike.
We create partnerships across Europe for shared learning and cross-border sustainability projects with long-term impact.
European Green Deal
The European Green Deal is the EU strategy to reach climate neutrality by 2050 — cutting emissions, restoring biodiversity, reducing pollution, and accelerating the circular economy.
Northern Impact supports these goals through projects on sustainable fashion, waste reduction, ecological awareness, and collaboration with organisations across Europe. We also develop initiatives that help everyday sectors — including hospitality and digital work — operate more responsibly.

Global framework
Our work contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals — especially quality education, responsible consumption and production, climate action, and partnerships for the goals. Local projects in Lithuania are designed to connect with this shared European and global agenda.
By combining education, circular practice, and cross-border cooperation, we connect local work in Lithuania with a wider European and global picture of sustainable development.
Lithuania · sustainability and innovation
High-visibility Lithuanian developments shaping Europe’s conversation on clean energy, grid innovation, and circular systems — context that informs how we design projects and education programmes.
On 9 February 2025, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia synchronised their electricity systems with the Continental Europe Synchronous Area — permanently disconnecting from the Russian/Belarus frequency zone. The shift strengthens energy independence, security, and deeper EU market integration for more than 400 million customers on the continental grid.
ENTSO-E announcement →Utility-scale battery energy storage is scaling fast as renewables grow. Ignitis Group is building parks around Kelmė, Mažeikiai and Kruonis — about 291 MW / 580+ MWh combined — while hybrid solar-plus-storage sites (such as Anykščiai) show how flexibility and green generation work together after synchronisation.
Ignitis Group update →Lithuania’s beverage container deposit-return system remains a European reference: return rates around 90% a decade after launch, cited as Member States implement new EU packaging rules. It shows how clear design, retail infrastructure and public habit can turn waste into a circular resource.

Association initiatives
Alongside education and European collaboration, Northern Impact develops initiatives that put sustainability and innovation into operational practice — from responsible hospitality to secure, energy-aware digital work.
Project started by Northern Impact
NextStay is a project started by Northern Impact: a European platform that helps accommodation hosts complete guest compliance before self-check-in, then manage the stay with clarity and care. It extends our association mission into the hospitality sector — where responsible operations meet everyday guest experience.
Project started by Northern Impact
MyWorkspace by Intryl is a project started by Northern Impact: a secure browser-based portal for remote access to office PCs and cloud workspaces. It supports energy-aware operations — idle machines can power down when work happens in shared cloud environments — reduces the need for every employee to carry and replace dedicated hardware, and strengthens security by letting teams connect without hauling company devices. Innovation that lightens the footprint of everyday work.
Workshops, mentorship, and exchanges on sustainable fashion, textiles, waste reduction, and ecological design — skills that strengthen communities and organisations.
Cross-border learning and joint initiatives with organisations that share Green Deal and SDG priorities — keeping Lithuanian work connected to the wider European conversation.
